DLS athletic director and assistant varsity FB coach Terry Eidson told the Contra Costa Times:
"Our league (the Bay Valley Athletic League) did vote against it. But now that it's passed, if the date was changed to where it didn't compromise us academically, I would say we would definitely be willing to consider (playing in the game). I can't speak for everyone in our league, but I'm pretty sure if Pittsburg or Deer Valley had a chance to go, they'd consider it, too."
Others schools expressing concern were Ygnacio Valley (the school which shares a fence w/DLS) and Monte Vista of Danville. One cited that the seeding process isn't a completely fair one as they are essentially hand picked from Northern and Southern California. Another just plain didn't care for a state championship.
Eidson did make a note saying that if the campionship dated ended up not conflicting with DLS's finals schedule, the school will consider participating in the game. However, the school will remain firm on its decision not to participate if the dates fall within their finals schedule.
