Last weekend, I pulled workstations from KP-IT's offices over at Shadelands (501 & 401 Lennon) in The WC and over at 2300 Clayton in Concord, then reconnected them the next day in Pleasanton. During the week, I was providing day after client support in Pleasanton, then migrating over to a discovery project for the final phase of the KP-IT Pleasanton Technology Campus move.
On Tuesday, my report time was 8AM in Pleasanton. So I left a half hour later than I did the pevious day (as I had to report at 7:30 then), but doing so added another half hour to my commute time. It took me a total of an hour and a half to commute from Hercules to Pleasanton, 50 minutes of which was spent driving to the Walnut Creek interchange! (19 miles to the WC interchange, 38 miles total to PTC). Other than the time I was commuting down to SJ in the morning for the first week of classes last year (because my lease didn't start yet), I have not done the pre-dawn 680 commute since HS. And that was six years ago!
This week I got word that the our contractor group may stay with Kaiser until at least January or February, instead of two weeks from now. If I could average a 32-40 hour work week (which I have been lately), I may be able to scour up enough money to get an apartment in WC. But this is ALL preliminary :)
