Having the Amish being the main focus of an entertainment piece isn't all too brand new. There's a musical that was made called Plain and Fancy and for my junior year, that was our spring musical. (I honestly don't know what my director was thinking!) That production was the most interesting I've done. More interesting than the fact that we had a Filipino Tevya for Fiddler on the Roof the year before (he actually made it in the regional, national, and international Filipino press... he was embarrassed about that) and the multi-ethnic Cohan family for George M! the year prior to that. The most fun musical I did was in my senior year, Anything Goes where I played John, one of the Chinese converts. Even that was interesting as our director combined the old and new version of the musical.
Anyhooo, back to the Amish... It's on UPN tonight @ 8.
